Temflam Suspension

For the use by a registered medical practitioner or hospital or a laboratory.

Composition:

• Each 5ml contains:
• Paracetamol B.P. 125mg
• Ibuprofen B.P. 100mg

Pharmacology:
TEMFLAM is a combination of the above two ingredients. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent and possesses analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities. Ibuprofen is rapidly absorbed when administered orally. Peak serum ibuprofen levels are generally attained within one or two hours after administration. There is no evidence of drug accumulation  or enzyme induction.

The efficiency of paracetamol as an analgesic and antipyretic is equivalent to that of acetyl salicyclic acid, but it has no anti-inflammatory properties, paracetamol has no effect on the prothrombin time and does not appear to produce significant changes in the gastric mucosa. Paracetamol is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract following oral administration, peak plasma levels occur in about 30 minutes to 2 hours after administration. Approximately 20% to 50% is bound to plasma proteins and is metabolized in the liver largely to Glucuronide.

INDICATIONS:
For the relief of mild to moderate pain and antipyretic. It’s less effective in postoperative and postpartum pains.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
TEMFLAM should not be used in patients who have previously exhibited hypersensitivity to Ibuprofen and paracetamol or in individuals with the syndrome of nasal polyps, angioedema reactivity to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.

ADVERSE REACTIONS:
Large doses taken for a long period can cause gastric distress, hemolytic anaemia, drowsiness, sever hepatic damage and may lead to death.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

• Adults and Children over 12 years: 2 teaspoonfuls (10mls) four hourly if necessary and not more than six teaspoonfuls in 24 hours.
• Children 6- 12 years: 1 – 2 teaspoonfuls to be taken 3 – 4 times daily.
• Children 2 – 5 years: ½ to 1 teaspoonful 3 – 4 times daily.

PRESENTATION:
10ml, 60ml and 100ml in amber colored bottles.

STORAGE:
Do not store above 30⁰C. Store in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
