Ciprofloxacin USP 250mg/500mg

Pharmacological Class:
Quinolone Antibiotic

Indications:

• Bone & joint infections
• Brucellosis
• Skin & Soft Tissue infections
• URTIs, UTI & LRTIs
• Typhoid & Paratyphoid fever
• Gastro- Enteritis

Dosage. i). Normal dose for unsevere infections – 500mg BD,
ii). More Complicated severe infections – 750mg BD
iii). Urethral & Cervical Gonococcal Infections – 500md stat.
NB: Reduce dose for patients with severe renal impairment.
Pregnancy & Lactation: To be used only if benefit outweighs risk to fetus under 18 yrs of age; – no safety data available – can cause tendinitis

Side Effects:
GIT disturbances – nausea/diarrhoea/abdominal
pain/dyspepsia
Headache; dizziness; restlessness
Photosensitivity; Rash & Pruritus
