Pharmacological Class:
Antiviral
Indications:
- Initial and recurrent mucosal & cutaneous
- Herpex simplex virus.
- Varicella Zoster
- Herpex simplex encephalitis
- Herpes Genitalis
- Chicken pox
Dosage & Administration.
- Herpes simplex: Adults & Children>2yrs: 200mg 5 times daily. children < 2yrs : half the above dose.
- In immunocompromized patients – double the above dose.
- Herpes zoster: 800mg 5 times *7/7; Double dose in immunocompromized patients.
- Topical Application: Apply 5 times daily for 7/7.
Contra-indication:
Hypersensitivity to acyclovir or components of the formulation.
