Methomine – S
Sulfadoxine 500mg + Pyrimethamine 25mg
Pharmacological Class:
Antimalarial – sulfur based.
Indications:
Intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy.
Dosage & Administration:
- 3 tablets once during the second trimester; (4-6) months.
- 3 tablets once during the third trimester. (6-81/2 months)
Use in pregnancy & Lactation:
- No teratogenic effects shown in use of sulfonamides.
- Considered to be safe for pregnancy of 36 weeks
NB: exercise caution in patients who have shown hypersensitivity. discontinue drug if rashes, Steven Johnson Syndrome or epidermal necrolysis occurs
